I was visiting somebody in the hospital the other day and they were all walking around like they had just taken out a hot appendix.

Uh, maybe hiding their messed up hair? Maybe saves the hospital money for paper head coverage gear?

Maybe bc they’re at work?

What’s the deal with lawyers wearing a coat and tie to work or in a courtroom?

But most of them aren't surgeons. It's the internists, dermatologists, everybody.

If you go to the OR for any reason, you have to wear one. A lot of them just leave it on the whole day instead of putting it on and taking it off.

They can be required when placing a central or arterial line, doing sterile procedures, etc. Also serves to keep Staph, fungus, and other various microbes out of your hair when dealing with patients carrying an infectious disease.

Marcus Welby always wore a surgical cap when he was in surgery offering technique advice as he held a retractor while watching a brain surgeon removing a tumor from a mother of seven he met while ordering a Big Mac at a golden arch location down the street from his dog groomer.

Anyone in a medical setting whether it be ER, surgery, inpatient or outpatient, that has to scrub in, usually wears a surgical cap.

It’s very common

Taking it on and off increases the chance of bacteria getting on the head cover.

I used to go to a little neighborhood bar and there was a doctor that would show up in full scrubs and get shite faced. At first I thought he might be a veterinarian but he was a freakin neuro surgeon... I don't remember his name but if I heard it I would run the other way...
