I think my dog is bored and needs a companion while we’re at work. She’s too playful and friendly to be alone throughout the day.

Where’s the best play to adopt in town? I’m looking to get a youngish medium size mut (1 year or younger) that I can save.

I was hoping to support a shelter that is doing a good service instead of the parish pound.

Look on Pet Finder and just limit your search to the Baton Rouge area. All of the shelters in the area use it to list their available pet.

Friends of the Animals - across from Sammy’s on Highland. Check their Facebook page for hours and dogs.

Many rescues get inventory from the BR animal shelter.

One of our CAAWS dogs was a stray from animal control.

If you're trying to find a companion for you dog, you might want to foster one. If they get along, adopt the foster.

Go to.a breeder. You’ll get a quality dog and your dog will thank you later.

If you go to FOTA, lie about not having previous dogs on the application, unless you have documents of perfect vet visits / vaccinations on your previous pets. Ive started getting my dogs vaccinations at tractor supply's vet clinic days, due to timing and price.
The FOTA lady raised hell about that, and even hid the dog I went to look at in the back room. We've brought blankets, dog treats, and went and played with the dogs there before. None of that mattered.

If you really are "rescuing" a dog, wouldn't you go to the worst pound?

Da frick? We didn't have any issues like that. Well we did have vaccination records for our 2 other dogs when we got #3 from there. It was an easy process.

This is true.
We foster animals, and quite a few we get we "pull" from the local county shelter.

Yes they do. When we were looking we noticed that too. They get most of their food, vet, and other stuff from free donations, but still charge a rehoming fee. The woman over it has a holier than thou attitude, and will let you know if you are worthy of having one of her dogs.
