I don't like "big cities" but Lafayette has everything a guy could want.

Except a very limited walkable neighborhood and no public transportation of note. Also, no professional sports teams. I like Lafayette, but it is lacking in some major areas.

I have a truck, I don't need walkable or public transportation

Eta: my next house won't even have a walkable neighbor

I have a vehicle too, but enjoy being able to walk to bars/restaurants and not worry about driving home drunk.

I lived the first 22 years of my life without having walkable neighbors. That shite is for the birds...

The North Shore and by North Shore I mean Mandeville, Covington, Madisonville, and Abita Springs. No matter what anyone tells you Tangipahoa Parish, Washingtonton Parish and Slidell are not the North Shore.

This. The only thing now days is the congestion. The population here has skyrocketed and the infrastructure is not set for this many people.

They need widen I-12 between Hwy 21 and 190. They need to start the widening of 21 to the hospital and figure out how to get another bridge across the river in Covington.

250,000 people ruled by a Police Jury that gives new meaning to Tammany Hall. It's corrupt at every level which is why the infrastructure hasn't kept pace with the growth. If you want to see the future of St. Tammany parish just look at Metairie, the previous white flight refuge. Slidell is already a borderline slum. Genteel Covington will be overwhelmed within a decade. The things that made it attractive to move there won't exist any more.

That's changing. Walter reed will be going down soon. There is still time to get things right.

Well those two criteria knock out dam near every city in Louisiana.

And as for public transportation, that would be THE LAST thing I'd worry about/want.

Except New Orleans, which is coincidentally the only place I'd live in Louisiana (currently live in New Orleans but will move in a few years)

Public transportation is awesome in larger cities, the metro in DC is great
