Hefner said that the common reason women were rejected for Playboy was crappy boob jobs that look ok in clothes but terrible when unclothed.

One of the reasons Playboy became so popular is that instead of stressing the bimbo look, Hefner mostly chose GNDs as playmates.

Today's interest in skanks is a reaction against that.

That's always been true. What Hefner did was to encourage the idea that it's OK for GNDs to put out too. So now it's mostly not a big deal.
