What would you have done?

I'll make this as brief as possible.
Last Saturday, I saw a guy dump trash on my property. I wasn't able to get to him before he left, but got a good look at his truck and face.
I dug through the trash (dirty diapers and kitchen stuff ~ 6 bags and some old luggage) and found the following:
PO receipt from a business
Picture of a kid - around 2yo
Empty Rx bottle
Receipt from a payday loan place
So I took to Facebook and found a guy with the name on the payday loan receipt who lives about 10 miles from me. It just so happens that his employer is the business listed on the PO receipt, his kid looks exactly like the kid in the picture, and his FB page was plastered with pics of his white 2004 F150...the same one he was driving.
I sat on it for a couple of days and decided to give him a call at work. After a couple of attempts, I finally got him on the phone.
He initially denied doing it but finally owned up to it when provided the evidence...plus he didn't know I saw his face.
I had him come back out, put it back in his truck, and haul it to the dump...he did it the evening we spoke.
My wife thought it was dumb to dig through the trash, but this is the kind of stuff I can't just let go.

Well done for you, sir. Instead of bitching about it and doing nothing you did the right thing and took direct action.
Good on the guy for fixing his mess too and not being a little bitch about it.

I would've been annoyed, but ultimately done nothing & let it go. I'm not very confrontational, to say the least. I applaud your effort. Dude is a dickbag.

I honestly would have just let it go, but can't blame you for going that route. That ain't a hill I'm willing to die on. I'm surprised he came out and picked it up tbh.

Not posted this shitty story on the OT.

Well done on your part, good for him for owning up to it and coming to clean it up.

Good luck. I am sure your house will be burnt down soon. I have seen several episodes of Fear thy neighbor on the ID channel to know how this turns out.

I would have definitely dug through the trash, gathered as much intel as possible, and stalked this SOB on social media until justice prevailed.

Sounds like a pretty logical, fair, and even-tempered response.
I suppose the better question is - if this guy lives 10 miles away from you - what would make him think the best way to get rid of his trash is to dump it on the front yard of someone's property? Pretty much every business is near some sort of dumpster.

Gone to his address with the garbage and other evidence and spoken with him in a civil manner.
Then excused myself and dropped a deuce in his restroom and put the TP in the trash can.

I've had similar situation but I simply loaded the shite up and dumped it back in dudes yard.

He actually came back and picked it up. Good job man, how big an old boy are you anyway?
Posted on 5/10/17 at 11:16 am to Eli Goldfinger
he put some garbage bags on your property so you went through it and called his work to make him come get it?
what a frickin loser. just put it with your garbage and forget about it

I'm guessing his knuckles were not impressive then?

You did the right thing man. At least the piece of shite finally admitted to doing it.

You handled it great.
I would have asked the police if what he did was a crime, and if so, pressed charges.
I would want to extinguish the behavior for all time.
