You can literally get it for anything. And more often than not, admin personnel will get it instead of guy doing the fighting.

Not sure if true, but I did once hear about an army unit that sent all of their administration personnel home from the Middle East home with bronze stars

I believe it. All of our psgs and pl's got bronze stars. Now did they deserve it? I can't be the judge of that, b/c I've never had to be in charge of a large group of people in the most stressful of conditions. But it is different when I see a lieutenant with a bsm versus seeing an E4 with a bronze star with v device.

It helps to be E-7 or above... I was put in for one in 2005 along with two other guys in my company.. I was only E-5... the only ones who received it were my boss (CW3) and my PL (1LT)... Me (SGT) and two SPC's didn't 'earn' them when we were the boots on ground that gave them the recognition for the same debrief.

shite doesn't roll uphill.

Then honestly, he probably didn't have to do much. They are harder to get now, but at the height of the war, the services were giving out Bronze Stars to everyone in-theater like they were penny gum.

He probably didn't have to do a lot of physical work depending on mos, location, time of the war, region etc. probably more stressful mentally handling a platoon element. I was a medic for a distribution platoon and we did convoys I wanted to laugh when our pl said we were all getting bronze stars. That obviously didn't happen
