Well of course you don't. You have a cholesterol of 300, so most likely you are fat as frick. You probably hadn't gotten laid without paying for it in years, fatso

You could lose 15 lbs. I am almost 6'2", and weigh 180#. But I monitor my diet very closely. 80-90% of my intake is plant based. I will eat chicken breast for protein. "Fast food" (Chick-Fil-a, etc) 4-5 times a year. I can't tell you the last time I ate red meat. You are playing with fire, assuming you want to live and feel great.

Eat metamucil tablets. And the bonus is that it helps with bowel movements.

Idiot.

Get your doc to prescribe you some fenofibrate or some simavastin, stat. Both of them work wonders.

All I remember is the first number. He said some other stuff, then told me I'd probably have a heart attack soon, and that I either needed to eat differently or take meds

There are new medications coming out for cholesterol, mainly LDL, that are excellent.

Once every two week shots in stomach. And yes, they hurt.

I guess I've never been in a situation where this was true for me, but I can't imagine a doctor saying this so bluntly. Aren't you in your 20's?

But if you ever have a heart attack, you will gladly endure the shots.

Diet alone is not going to do it. Diet plus exercise maybe, but you probably need to get on medication if you want to live to see 50. I've had success with a combination of niacin ER to raise HDL and a low-dose statin to lower LDL. The statin also has some anti-inflammatory effects that are good for heart health. These drugs are tested, inexpensive and effective. Why would you not take them? Your doc should have done a better job of explaining the urgency of getting your lipids under control.

Well, my liver probably isn't doing so well at this point. Plus, taking that many meds each day sucks.

I started working out last week, but the blood work was done before that

Why not take the meds to get your levels down right now and then work on eating better? Once you get your diet right you could probably stop taking the meds... but in the meantime your heart wouldn't explode.
