I’ll never understand the mindless fear/hatred of snakes. So many people will kill a snake even though they know it is harmless.
Back when I was younger, I pretty much killed all snakes that crossed my path. Anymore, I only kill the venomous ones. I hope they’re as beneficial as folks say, cause they still scare the hell out of me, venomous or not.

Admirable position man. They are skittish and will leave you alone. Also an important part of the ecosystem. I don't blame you for killing venomous snakes on your property.

Snakes eat a rat every other week. In that time frame there are 6 more rats. Snakes don’t do shite

According to you, they eat a rat every other week. That’s better than not eating a rat every other week, no? Considering how prolific rats are, eating one every other week probably represents tens of thousands of rats, either eaten, or never born. I’ll do the math, but 26 dead rats per year, per snake, is huge I’ll bet.

Sounds like you need 12 rat snakes, a few king snakes and an owl.

Under ideal conditions (for the rat), this means that the population of females could increase by a factor of three and a half (half a litter of 7) in 8 weeks (5 weeks for sexual maturity and 3 weeks of gestation), corresponding to a population growing by a factor of 10 in just 15 weeks. As a result, the population can grow from 2 to 15 000 in a year.
I could be way off here, but if 2 rats could be 15k in a year, 26 dead rats in a year could represent 195,000 rats. That’s per snake.

Flying black runner. Be careful as they can move in the air at rapid speeds for short distances and bite you. Kill it
