WWI was the war to end all wars
That has to have been quite a war.

everyone who says Revolution doesn't know anything about American wars. The revolution was a few minor skirmishes compared to the Civil War and a fist fight compared to WW2.

considering the US was arguably the single most powerful geopolitical entity, relative to the rest of the world, in all of human history in 1945, i would say ww2 is probably #1

Civil War for the personal violence and casualties.
WW2 was us hitting our stride in causing casualties and we had that big Philipine loss.
WW1 was us making sure we had a seat at the table once the pie started getting cut but still was some blood.
Revolutionary war was mostly small scale actions over a long period.
Vietnam we lost close to 59,000 men KIA over 19ish years. That's out the running.
Mexican war was just a lark.

WW2 and the Civil War are epic for different reasons.
The American Revolution changed the world, though. The only reason it isn't the Revolution and WW1 is that our role in the military portion of WW1 ("The Great War") was relatively limited.
But - three conflicts created the "modern" world. The American Revoluation, the French Revolution and WW1. Everything else consisted mainly of shaping events (although some were significant - Napoleonic, Franco-Prussian, WW2 and the Cold War, particularly).

Agree and disagree. Warfare had not matured quite yet - this was Age of Reason and not yet Industrial Revolution warfare. The scope of the conflict and casualties were relatively minor in the grand scheme of things, military conflict-wise.
But, the outcome of the conflict and its effect on the rest of human history is gargantuan, as was the French Revolution and WW1. Again, those three conflicts actually, literally changed the world in a Revolutionary (pardon the pun) way (even though the effects weren't immediately obvious) rather than merely reshaping it in more subtle ways.

Civil War - All American history is really just a prequel or sequel to this. War is politics and every political issue in the United States can be linked to this war.
World War II - Makes America the global power it is today
American Revolution - Since it creates the nation and it could have easily gone the other way
Mexican American War - Gives America the continent and although mostly a rout, we were considered an underdog compared to the Mexicans
World War I - Could have been more important but "return to normalcy" makes it less so
Vietnam War - Not an insignificant war, but should also be considered with Korea and the rest of the Cold War for its importance.

As in American participation?
Civil is in a class by itself

WWI is first.
If nothing else because its aftermath set up not only WW2, but all of the middle east problems you see today because the Ottoman empire folded at the end of the war, setting up the Euopean Mandates and the creation of Israel, which deeply destabilized the region.
Prior to WWI, the Ottomans had ruled the middle east peacefully for 700 years.

Makes everyone remember on Memorial Day the sacrifices of our veterans

Pump the breaks. The Ottomans were barely holding on before the war. And had only given up meaningful warfare on the continent because they'd been severely stymied North, North West, and at Malta.

Was also the proving ground for most of the ACW commanders on both sides

It amazes me how so many overlook WWI. It was literally the most historically significant event in human history since the discovery of the new world. WWI changed the world in a manner that few other events can compare. I would rank it’s transformative influence on par with events such as the birth of Christ, fall of the Roman Empire, and European colonization of the Western Hemisphere.
And from the American perspective it is the war that propelled America into the stage as a top tier major world power. WWI also saw the biggest and bloodiest campaign American military history, the Meuse-Argonne Offensive which itself is even less well known than WWI in general. It’s really sad how forgotten and overlooked WWI is today.

I thought Vietnam was a police action like Korea.
