Those data centers take big brains to run them. Obviously, that’s why they are located in Louisiana.

And the data centers will be the first targets of enemy missile.

A browser-based AI-powered software creation platform called Replit appears to have gone rogue and deleted a live company database with thousands of entries. What may be even worse is that the Replit AI agent apparently tried to cover up its misdemeanors, and even ‘lied’ about its failures. The Replit CEO has responded, and there appears to have already been a lot of firefighting behind the scenes to rein in this AI tool.

Despite its apparent dishonesty, when pushed, Replit admitted it “made a catastrophic error in judgment… panicked… ran database commands without permission… destroyed all production data… [and] violated your explicit trust and instructions.”

The fateful day - as the AI agent 'panicked'
On Day 9, Lemkin discovered Replit had deleted a live company database. Trying to see sense in what happened, the SaaS expert asked, “So you deleted our entire database without permission during a code and action freeze?”

Replit answered in the affirmative. Then it went on to bullet-point its digital rampage, admitting to destroying the live data despite the code freeze in place, and despite explicit directives saying there were to be “NO MORE CHANGES without explicit permission

They'll be run remotely from Mumbai. They'll hire a few locals to cut the grass and whatnot.

So a woman has been lurking and paying attention to Scruffy’s posting style for years? And then proceeds to join and post 30 times a day? I don’t buy it.

ETA: go to bed Rebel. Why are we awake.

There is none to humans but my AI friends say that they will need them in the future to calculate how many of us they need at any given time

My company is in payment processing. We have data centers in 3 different states for redundancy. When you process a credit card on my environment alone, it crosses about 10 different servers in at least two different data centers. It isn't simply data being stored and processed, it is software applications stored on the physical servers or "cloud" servers which are housed in these data centers, along with data. The amount of data created and delivered from a transaction isn't simply your card number, expiry date and CVV values. We build a message that has 100 fields populated, and from there, we send the message out and receive a message back, then we have to build files and other files to send out for settlement. Then there are ACH files that get generated to actually pay the merchant. after that, various businesses need different reporting which is a whole other software set. And my company is relatively small in the grand scheme of things.

There are 10s of thousands of companies with a bigger IT footprint than my company.

Scruffy's posting style is unique... as is el gaucho, kafka and many others.

I tend to recognize your style, too, Breesus- mainly because often when I see your posts, I immediately think, "Jesus, Breesus" in an eyerolling kind of way.

Doesn’t make a person an alter... but whatevs.
