Is getting a BSN instead of an ASN a thing? I know she hasn't decided how far she wants to go yet. She's going to do it in steps over time. I know her LPN program at a community college is basically just year 1 of a 2-year RN program. I imagine this would naturally result in an ASN. She's talked about online RN-BSN university bridge programs, so I know that's on her radar.
BSN, ASN, and LPN are going to be 3 different programs. While all are licensed nurses, the LPN will for the most part be limited in his or her practice depending on where you work.
If the end result of her program is a LPN then she should think about leaving that and doing the full registered nurse program (associates or bachelors). In competitive job markets it's almost impossible to get a good position without the bachelors. I live and work around the DC metro area as a nurse and none of the hospital systems up here are hiring without the BSN. It is the nature of the position, but it is also cyclical in that in a few years they will start hiring associates degree nurses. Part of that being because they can't get enough BSN nurses and end up paying out of their arse to get temporary travel nurses to fill holes in the staffing.
Since magnet status (basically a bragging point and mark of excellence for a hospital) requires a certain percentage of BSN nurses, they will always be favored. Nice thing about that is if you can get a job with an assoicates then usually the company will give some significant reimbursement to obtain your BSN.
Shoot anymore questions ya have across here, the OT isn't all sarcasm.......not all the time at least

My son starts college in 2 months and he will be majoring in nursing.
He wants to get his BSN and then become a CRNA.
I told him he will probably be one of only 2-3 guys in his classes. Asked him if he was okay with that.
He was all "Uhhhh, am I okay with being surrounded with girls and having no other male competition? Do you know me, Mom?".
I got his point.

If your son is good looking he will pull but if not then it won't do him any good to be a male nurse

It's not that simple. He better get a job as a nurse in the ICU for a couple years before he even starts applying to CRNA school.
And depending on the hospital....some will not hire new grads in ICUs. So then he would have to start off on a med/surg floor to get some basic nursing experience then move into ICU nursing.

I bet that helped a lot with her getting in. Being a charity hospital....she likely saw quite a lot of stuff in the ICU and got really great experience.
ICU nursing was never an area I had any desire to do, not even peds ICU. God bless those that do it though.
