My buddy is an ee with a company in new Orleans. He does inside technical sales. He doesn't use much of what he learned in school.

I'm doing an internship right now, and haven't used a single thing I learned in school besides CAD and stuff and how to read blueprints. Started off working in the shop, and now it's a mix of shop and computer stuff

I'm referring to college professors. Many of my college professors had years of professional experience working before becoming professors. A lot of them also worked consulting side jobs while teaching.
