It's a suburb of Denver. Is it nice? Ghetto? Areas to avoid?

It's very nice. Not far from the foothills and good quality of life-lots of trails and parks. A little vanilla for sure. It was really developed in the 1980s and 1990's and feels a lot like nearby suburbs Westminster, Littleton, Arvada etc.

oh culcha- The rule of thumb is-the closer to the foothills, the better. Aurora and Denver are your concern.

My buddy (we are all just a few years out of high school) has never left Texas so one day he decided he was giving away all his possessions and writing a book, and he and his other friend took a Greyhound out west and that is where they ended up. They are camping somewhere around there. They said the area around Colorado Christian University is what they like.

They are going to start looking for jobs and find a place to stay. I'm seriously considering meeting them up there in a couple months and living there for 6 months-1 year. I want to spend some time in a cool place with mountains or beach or something. I went to Crested Butte for about 4 days when I was 11 and besides that haven't spend much time in Colorado. I'm probably going to have to live in San Antonio/South Texas for a year or two before I can transfer to a university, so I want to enjoy my time in a cool place before that and save up money.

I lived in Littleton, Denver, and Boulder. What I recall about Lakewood is it bordered the western side of Denver. To get there you had to drive through some serious ghetto parts of the city. Lakewood itself wasn't ghetto but big areas between there and downtown Denver are:

Collegedropout-

if thats what you want then I highly recommend you get a job at keystone or breck with vail resorts and live in employee housing. You get a job and a place to live in one easy swoop and its a cool place to live for a bit.

I will rarely be going to Denver so that isn't a big deal, I will spend the week days in Lakewood and most weekends in the Mountains probably.

I work in Lakewood, if you have any specific questions, let me know. Like said previously, its a fairly nice place, the area along Colfax is sketchy in some places, especially the closer to Denver you get. Other than that, its not really a place where young singles hangout. If you want a nice bar with good food and beer, check out Teller's on Youngfield. The area around CCU is pretty average unless you live in Belmar. Just like most of the area, there are lots of parks and hike/bike trails.

East? It's literally right at the base of the mountains.

Been to Thunder Valley MX Park a few times right off I70...

Hence why I said 'east'. I'm only familiar with SW CO.
