Canes was good before they took away the 1 finger from the box combo and the caniac. Great memories at the Original Canes on Highland.

Doesn't bother me as much because when I go back to Lafayette I bring an ice chest and get 10-15 lbs of boudin and andouille. Holds up great in deep freezer.

A topic I ponder often up here in Maryland.

1) Gumbo
2) Shrimp Poboy
3) boudin

Fun fact: my kids worked at canes during high school because they are very easy going about working around sports schedules

funny you say that about Fiesta, went into my first one last year in Dallas and go back every two weeks or so

blew my mind. the bakery, meats and seafood alone is worth the drive. they have HUGE head on shrimp at the one in plano that are 10-12 per lb for $4.99 most of the time. they are gulf shrimp as well. best deal in town

there marinated fajita meat with homemade tortillas will make you slap your mom

I know they don't beat Heb's homemade tortillas though

Yep, friend of mine from LA turned me onto it. The have Camellia Red Beans, Patton's Hot Sausage, boudin, and all the spices. Asked a Mexican friend why they carry LA stuff. Answer, they love the spicy stuff...duh. My buddy also said try the fresh baked french bread pistelletes. They are much closer to what you get in N.O. Big plus is the Mexican Coke.
