Nathan's wanted to force him out. Didn't want an asian winning the quintessential american sport on america's birthday each year, so they had MLE pressure him out like the Russians did when Fischer won the chess title.
Now it's only Chestnut and Stonie. Stonie has a solid youtube channel and is fun to watch but what they did to Kobayashi was a disgrace.

you know how i know ??/ Cause theres a place used to be here in Bear Creak Ohio called Bear Creek ..They had a 64 oz steak that if you could eat the entire thing ( fat ,gristle and all) your entire table ate for free that night ...Well Boot Buttrey ate 2 of them ...128 ozs !!! and he did it in less than 15 minutes ..he would crush that ugly mf r Chestnut ...but like i said Boot is dead ... he was good friend of my HS baseball coach and would come sit on the bench during games sometimes ...Once he told us if everyone throws $5 in the hat he ll crap his pants right on the bench . we threw in 20-25 bucks and he sprayed mudd in his pants right in the dugout --he was a true champion

He also ate a 72oz steak plus salad plus baked potato plus shrimp cocktail plus roll in less than 9 minutes. He could easily eat more than 128oz of steak in 15 minutes. Some tiny lady beat this record, but I think he just hasn't tried it again.

well we will never frickin know will we cause Boot is dead ... All i know is Boot ate a car tire ,has swallowed golf balls, eaten light bulbs, lit off firecrackers in his mouth,
Boot was friends with George Steinbrenner (dont ask me how ) and the motivation for the famous Miller Light commercials from long ago when the football player rips the top of the beer can off with his teeth was inspired by Boot ..He was actually paid for the idea .. Boot may no be able to beat Chestnut at hotdogs and some other foods but in a contest with no time limit ,I would take Boot over anybody and he could eat for 24 hrs straight if he wanted .

From what I’ve heard once you start doing MLE events you can’t make money doing any other eating challenges that aren’t under their umbrella.
