I remember open casket funerals from when I was around 5 years old. Didn't really freak me out. Death is a part of life. A very hard part, sure. But if a kid is old enough to understand what death even is, they can handle it.
Closing the casket on my grandparents (closest deaths so far) was extremely tough. Not them being open casket. But that last point of saying goodbye. But I'm glad I at least got the chance.
