You clearly don’t know any operators. At my plant we still have a pension and company matches up to 8% 401k.

Vast majority of operators have their 401k maxed out at 18.5k a year.

Have to remember that it is site dependent. Some sites really breed a culture different than others in this aspect.

Impossible to make one blanket statement.

Logic changes aren't as usual, mainly because they aren't that common. Also, makes more sense for it to be an independent position.

Tuning and setpoints are the more common operation manipulation.

That's interesting that the vast majority of people their age have no retirement savings yet low educations operators have the highest savings rates among any in the economy. I'd be willing to test my theory over yours.

only making 65k a year working everyday of their life on overtime.

That's pretty much impossible unless you have an hourly rate in the teens

Their age? What age is that?

Also, your theory then is that no one "that age" has retirement savings. Bold theory.

Nah, they're not nepotistic pieces of shite.

Dunno about that. Many fathers have put in a good word for their son(s) or cousin(s)...or know when a position is about to open before anyone else does. My dad was an operator and tired for years to get my brothers and myself to apply at his plant. It was/is still a badge of honor to have your sons to work at the same plant.

You are silly to think anything else.

Plant operators can't be in that 40% because....

FWIW, there are some retiring that aren't too secure in their 401k's. I'd put that number nearer 10-20%. Most of those guys just keep working until they die it seems.

At 16% that would be 115,000 per year. If you made the average hourly income of 33.00 per year that would mean that your average operator worked almost 1,000 hours of overtime a year. IDK About yall but i rather make a bit less and have a family, life, etc...

They make all their money on OT. They basically cook all day in their operator kitchens and tell stories of hunting and fishing that they never actually have time off to do and then get mad when people claim they are worthless. They make over $100k a year but work double my hours to get there. But they mostly all hate their families so they don’t mind.

Talk about some generalizations

Although I used to work with a lot of these offshore guys and it's somewhat true

I don't get the idea that they hate their families though. At least not the group I worked with

Consider that you have factored in OT that is guaranteed every two weeks (20-36hrs). Also, shift diff and holiday pay (10-15 days).

Doesn't count double time when they hit.
