About a month ago, I purchased a PO box at my local post office because the mail carriers refused to deliver packages to my house and instead would leave them by the mailbox. Several were stolen and despite my complaints to the Post Master, nothing changed. I bought a box to eliminate the driver ever having to handle a package and I would just pick up my mail at the post office instead. Well today I went to collect my mail from the PO Box and the dumbass I bought one from hadn’t opened it. Meaning all of the mail and every package I was supposed to receive over the last month was “forwarded” to some unknown location because they believed the box was closed and I was told at some point they would make their way back

There has to be a better way.

For 18 of the past 24 months, we haven't been able to drop mail in the drop boxes, because someone stole the key. They literally taped garbage bags over the mail boxes.

Stop hiring minorities and women for 80% of the workforce.

Unions will never allow it, but man what a shite show across the country the USPS is. Everyone seems to have a story similar to mine.

Why do you have to rent a box at a place they already own or lease, but they will drive to you home for nothing?

The Post Master at my location is a woman with 20 years experience. She mentioned that about 30 times as if saying it enough would magically make my mail reappear. She also may have been the dumbest person I’ve ever encountered in management outside of a retail setting. I’m convinced that 90% of the people employed by the USPS couldn’t get jobs anywhere else.

Have you seen FedEx lately? UPS isn't much better either, and when you consider shipping costs, both of them are much WORSE than the USPS.

We have a little small post office by us, but they don't process mail there (you can go buy stamps, mail things there, get a PO Box there, but the mail trucks don't deliver from there).

Anyways there is a young lady who works there, probably late 20s, attractive, and extremely nice. Always has a smile on her face. Always asks what she needs. Always willing to help. The opposite of just about every other USPS employee.

One day we were talking and she said her husband is military so she moved with him, and so she is able to transfer to other post offices when he transfers in the military.

She's the kind of person they need in a higher role but with her moving around maybe that is not possible.

Meanwhile, the "main" post office in Chalmette has been in heated battles with the parish over the USPS inability to keep the parking lot clean and the grass cut.

All I get in the mail is junk. Kill the usps for regular mail. Privatize and turn it into competition for ups and fedex. Use the saved tax dollars for military and border security.

Years ago I looked into buying the building that houses the USPS near the NOC in the Nantahala Gorge, and one of the reasons I passed was because I was required to perform all maintenance including lawn care, trash pickup, etc. I didn’t like the idea of basically having tenants I had no control over. You may have a similar situation in Chalmette.

I assumed based on what I heard that the fedgov owned that building, but maybe not.

Question, genius: have you ever seen a USPS plane or semi truck?

My cousin's husband got a job at the USPS after doing 20 in the USAF. I had a friend who worked at the USPS and so I asked him one day how my cousin was fitting in. He said that he liked him, but no one else did. He said he worked too hard and didn't complain at all.

I’ve had a check sitting in my local distribution center since March 24th.
