sounds like you will be fine. If I had stayed in the field I would have a lot more saved and the house would be paid for. I took the office job to be home with the kids but it came with a huge pay cut. Also doing MWD btw

I say this with sincerity too...Not everybody in the oilfield is a roughneck. This downturn is also causing highly educated people with white collar jobs to be unemployed. It's not fun for anybody in the industry.

For the record, I'm not one of these guys who's glad that the O&G industry is undergoing a massive correction. I am not in the industry, but know many people who are. I'm not making light of the downturn. I made a tongue-in-cheek joke about the stereotypical guy who works 70 hours a week and spends every dime on toys and other bullshite. We've all seen this guy. He does exist and no, I don't feel sorry for him.

I made a joke (sarcastically...part of the joke was the fact that it's so overdone) and jimmies got rustled. It is what it is.

I enjoy the jokes and stereotypes because they don't apply to me but I know there is some truth to it. I just wish someone would make a new joke for the oilfield threads. It's been a solid year of F250's with lift kits and truck nuts will be cheap now. I want something original.

I'm about to tee off though so you frickers have a nice day
