I went several weeks ago and I honestly have no idea what you are talking about. The crowds at Islands and main universal were a hell of a lot more normal than any Disney World crowd.
If you want to watch a bunch of weird people for free, I suggest watching The Price is Right on a daily basis

Two factors here:
- We live in Atlanta and take our kids to tourist stuff a lot (zoo, aquarium, etc.) so we see people who are probably from the more rural parts of the state or out of town etc. - and I get this 100%. I'm 20 minutes from my house but I never see people who look and act like this in daily life. In other words, these people are coming into our bubble so to speak.
- On the theme park level, it's even worse, and probably even worse than that at Disney because you get the very specific superfan types in addition to the others.
