I know people who I would trust with my life who were there and saw things firsthand that are hard to imagine in the modern world.

When ancient tribalism gets wrapped up in escalating atrocities it’s a race to the bottom as far as morality. When a father or brother has come home to find their wife, mother or baby sister raped and murdered and their home burned to the ground there is no telling what that person is capable of doing in retribution to those he holds responsible.

I once heard someone describe the anger of a man who has had their idyllic life ripped away from them. They know that they had a beautiful life and a clean soul and now both are gone and they will destroy at any cost the people who they feel took it all away from them.

Some people like to think that type of behavior only happens in Africa or Asia, but history is pretty clear that it can happen anywhere if the conditions are right.
