Been looking for a quick stay with the wife in either Fairhope/Point Clear or Natchez. Both are similar distances from Baton Rouge and provide their own unique qualities. I've never been to Fairhope/Point Clear so would need some pointers if this were the pick. The Grand Hotel looks nice from the pictures. Any suggestions?

Born and raised there and The Grand is a very great place

Felixs Bluegill and Laps on the Causeway are great places to eat. I currently live in Daphne with is just a few miles north of Fairhope

All you need to do is get a local motel room, order some Pizza Hut, and Blam! You get to PIIHB. It's a win/win. Pizza and PIIHB.

The Grand is awesome. My family loves going there, and the town of Fairhope is only 5 min away. We actually take bike rides from the hotel to there. Food is pretty good, pool is fun, and scenery is beautiful.

The grand is great. If you want something quiter, Fairhope has some great Bed and Breakfast places.
Either option above is better than Natchez.

Edit your title and make it longer or you will get anchored

Edit. It already is anchored. Better fix or this will fall quickly

Play golf at the Grand because it is a RTJ course and is beautiful. Lots of small shops that are unique downtown Fairhope that your wife will like

Thanks. Any can't miss spots for dinner in Fairhope? I only be there for a night and don't want to spend much time driving since it's such a short trip

The Grand Hotel is a great place to stay. Also the Fairhope Inn in downtown Fairhope could be a good little spot.

Definitely get lunch at Mary Anne's or Panini Pete's and go grab drinks at McSherry's.

Search the F&D board for suggestions. There was a good thread not too long ago

The Bay House is a good lounge to go chill at and have some drinks.

We spent 4 or 5 nights at the Grand a couple summers ago. Would have gone back last year but we had a 2 month old and opted for a condo in PCB instead. We're doing the same this year, but the Grand is a great spot. They have kayaks and bikes you can take out, and small little sailboats if that's your thing. You pay some activity fee with your room rate, so you might as well use it. We got a bike with a trailer, and another bike for my wife, and we rode down some boardwalk area near the resort down to some little candy shop and back. And we kayaked around in the bay a few different times. The pool area is nice. The indoor pool was a little chilly. Not sure why those are not always heated, at least a little. Drinks by the pool seemed reasonable. We did pack a cooler one day when we went down to their version of a beach, which is just a man-made area on the bay. No one seemed to care we were drinking our own and not buying from them.

There were not a lot of places to eat that were very close, but a quick drive to Fairhope and there's a few places. And we rode over to Foley/Gulf Shores one night. It was raining that afternoon so we couldn't sit by the pool so decided to hit up the outlet mall and grab some seafood over there.

Then we were meeting our parents in Biloxi for the weekend, so we ate at Felix's on our way to the USS Alabama. The wife wasn't real big on the battleship, but my daughter was 4 at the time and loved it. She didn't believe me when I told her I got to spend the night on the bunks a few times when I was in the boy scouts in Mississippi.

It makes me glad that my wife worked in a school system and was part of the RSA. We got a hugely discounted rate when we went. They have those certain dates each month. We stayed for $109 a night.

Here's some suggestions of mine:

Daphne:

Moe's BBQ (one of my favorite places of all time)
Cousin Vinny's
Manci's (great burgers and has one of the largest collections of liquor decanters in the world)
Rosie's
Eastern Shore Cafe (breakfast/brunch)
Smokehouse Cafe
Lenny's (The greatest fast food sandwich you can get)

Fairhope:

Panini Pete's
Old 27 Grill (probably my favorite in Fairhope)
Tamara's (not the fine dining one)
Master Joe's
Ravenite (not sure if it's still open)

Point Clear:

Anywhere at The Grand
Wash House
Wintzel's

I remember thinking this looked like my kind of place last time I was in Daphne.
