No married man has a life full of happiness, according to the OT. But I appreciate your well wishes for him.

Getting married is like getting locked into a bad cell phone plan, only worse.

Scruffy and his fiancé are going through this now.

Her mother and sister are helping out and keep shooting for more expensive stuff.

She has a level head about it though and we are trying to keep it affordable.

The toughest part is we both have massive families.

Sorry you and your families are too poor to experience it all. Here on TD we don't worry about money.

I provide instrumental music for ceremonies (which usually requires about 2 hours of work for me including travel and set up), and I’ll just throw numbers around for my fee. $300? $350? $400? They’ll pay it.

So I agree with OP. Wholeheartedly.

He won’t tell me the date. It’s a surprise.

Hopefully helpful tip:

You are going to spend money, it's the nature of he beast. Cut the corners where you can on the things you two agree aren't that important.

For us, we didn't see any need to spend $600-1000 on cakes. We got a cake and a couple hundred cupcakes from the Publix bakery for like $130 total.

My wife got a friend who was trying to start a floral business to do the flowers for super cheap.

You're gonna spend on the things that are important to you (food, venue, and transportation we're important to us) but you can get out of the whole thing without breaking the bank.

Unless your fiancee is a materialistic twat... Then you're just fricked.

Good luck!
