Mother investigated by CPS (in MS) over a joke-tweet
child trafficking is the new moral panic
quote:
Alex McDaniel, the editor of The Oxford Eagle and a mother of a 3-year-old boy, found out the hard way that social media posts don't always go as planned.
McDaniel tweeted "3yo for sale. $12 OBO"
quote:
Someone offended by that tweet contacted Lafayette County Sheriff's Office and Child Protective Services and accused McDaniel of child trafficking and being mentally ill.

Sheesh, they didn't see the $12 price tag and know it was a joke?
A 3 year old is worth at least $15.

I wish some of you could see the window licking retards that populate the LSU Parents Facebook page. Every other day some bitch heads a rumor from her dipshit daughter and go into full panic mode. It's amazing that their offspring are intelligent enough to even get into college.
The most recent was some dumbass pulling her kid out of LSU after they busted that trafficking ring, as if young white LSU students are getting picked off daily.

This is a pretty moronic action from CPS, but I'm going to need to see some more examples before I believe "weaponized CPS is a major problem today."

They investigate that tweet but don't expect them to investigate fraud.

So it's ok for me to call the cops if I think someone is mentally ill?

CPS only has the power that uninformed people give them. They show up and demand access to your child and house and most people just passively agree. But without a warrant, you can easily tell them to frick off and there isn't jack shite they can do except go try to obtain a warrant, which most of them don't give enough of a shite to do.
My response: unless said deputy has a warrant, I'm not doing shite.

Investigators showed up at her work and told her she had to pull her child out of school while deputies investigated the case.
