This week we gained our 60th national park... formerly known as Jefferson National Expansion Memorial in St. Louis, Gateway Arch National Park is its official new name!

That’s cool ....

I thought Trump was going to turn all the national parks into gay camps and that's why they #resisted or whatever

There should be an Atchafalaya Swamp National Park.

Makes sense, but they'd have to work around some issues with flood control when the Mississippi River needs to use the Morganza Spillway. Meaning, the NPS would have to allow the park to flood by a man-made structure if needed.

The NPS is one of the few things the Federal Government does well, sans the land grabs under the "national monument" statute.

There are a few monuments that are under consideration for an “upgraded” park status, including Ocmulgee National Monument in Georgia. It’s cleared hurdles to become the first national historic park and preserve east of the Mississippi.

Which should be perfectly acceptable as part of the natural course of things.

It is a shame. There is the wildlife refuge, but that is part of the Fish & Wildlife Service.

Yeah, except the ORCS isn't natural.

Would be a pretty massive blow to the O&G folks

Well no, but if it didn't exist the entire swamp would experience seasonal flooding even more than already.
