It has a small family Lumber yard there and a Spenard Bldrs. Supply which is an Alaska building supply company. It's a pretty small town though by lower 48 standards.

It seems weird to me that all the sisters look and sound like the brothers.

I see those people in town all the time. The whole story is a fraud, they are actually from Texas. The Dad is a writer and has written dozens of books. Two of them served a sentence for PFD fraud, the oldest boy got a DUI here not long ago. Rumors are they actually sleep in a lodge in Hoonah, the "bush" setting is just that, a prop.

bullshite Roger. I've been watching this show for years now. They are the real deal.

They kind of overplay the self reliance thing. Those folks can drive or take a boat to Homer.

You are crushing my vicarious fantasies today, Rog.

There's probably some things that are real but that family couldn't really survive in the "Bush."

The island they live on is one of the most densely inhabited brown bear areas in the world.

They just said they don't hardly ever go to town so it seems like a good idea.

I watch that show a few times and the thing I find myself pondering is what they do for sex out there?

They're probably in Juneau more than the site where most of the show is filmed. Word is they actually live in a lodge in Hoonah (Native village) which is a few miles from their "bush" camp. I saw one of the boys walking around the airport area a few weeks ago.

God that show is fake

Those people would be dead as dinosaurs if they really lived like that outside in that part of Alaska.

I finally tuned out the day they build a Saran Wrap house wrapped tightly around four spruce poles.

Yeah. That "camp" would be destroyed by bears pretty quickly.
