I wonder if their is a measurable difference between swimmers and those born here.

You can bet there won't be an "academic" study on it.

one of the many reasons why TxDOT finish their projects in a month or two while it takes years in Louisiana

FACT. I am from Austin and every time we go back to visit family they have new interstates or high rises or something. Two lane roads then are now six lane highways.
It's nuts. They built this SH-130 right by my grandparent's farm and I swear they built the entire run in two years. Meanwhile it took ten freaking years to do the lane widening in Baton Rouge. Nearly that long to do similar work in Metairie as well.

WELLLL....not entirely true. Texas also knows how to right penalty contracts for state funded roads. "Finish this job by XX/XX/XX or start losing money" type contracts. Louisiana doesn't seem to like to write those. I remember NASA Road 1 overpass over 45 in Clear Lake/Webster....they had 1 month (30 days) to demo/rebuild it. They finished that thing in less than 30 days working 24hrs a day. Traffic thru there wasn't bad either during the construction. Just stayed away from the normal 630-830am and 330-530pm timeframes...Goto work at 0600 and get off at 1500...no traffic.

One of those days that you remember as a kid is one of those days that sticks out out of the hundreds that mean nothing any more.

One of those days for me is when they took down a huge white oak outside of the middle school back in 6th grade. It was recess. We were all gathered around. Standing in awe of a majestic tree and a daredevil dropping big limbs from the top.

I still see the crash in my head. Also, because I was a kid and many years separate the real events from the memory, the tree was probably twice as thick and twice as tall as it really was.

So, this tree crew, especially the climber are god-like status in my head. In my memory. 1 of the dozens that made it from middle school and still remain in my head in the present!
