Watch thread - Sports and business

I'm in the market for a new watch. I've had the Fitbit surge for a while for activity tracking and GPS on runs, but as I've become more of an adult, I need something more fitting for work + sports. Price range is under $700. I was thinking of either the Samsung gear S4 (Galaxy watch) or Garmin Fenix 5.
Any experience with either?
Other recommendations?
Samsung looks nicer, but Garmin has more sports functionality.
