Believe this is what I had on.

Did not want to give it back.

Don’t they make another one where the crown is off center. Meaning it is at the 4 o’clock position. Or the 8 o’clock and that dive watch.

Yes, Black Bay P01 - one of their more polarizing pieces, to say the least. With regard to the Pelagos LHD you pictured, I think that is the best looking one in the lineup, save the size. If it were sub 40 mm, I'd have one and I'm right-handed.

The only Tudor with the crown at 4 that I am aware of is the P01.

It is an odd duck that everyone expects to be discontinued at any moment but it lives on... last time I checked.

I really like 12-hour bezels when traveling domestically, I find them more useful (or quicker to read) then a standard 24hr GMT. If you like it AND it fits your wrist you should be able to get a healthy discount on a new one, I would say around 20% from a brick and mortar and 30% in the grey market. That is a feeling not based on research

Yes. It also ticks all my boxes. I was born in 1973. So I researched Rolex’s Subs from that time to find out how AWESOME the Red Subs looked. But they were 15-20k back then when I was looking. 2010ish. That watch has all the appeal of those subs. The red accents and the matte color on the dial markings/lume. It gives it that older Rolex look.

It was very close to a foolish purchase. Like a round of drinks and table dances on credit at a strip club. It would have made the same fiscal sense. But man it’s an awesome watch. To me.

Also back to my OP.

Is there anywhere to actually put on a Glaschuttes that’s not Germany.

When I bought my Sinn I bought it sight unseen. But I was able to go to Zadoks and put in a Bell&Ross that had nearly the same instrument like black and white dial. Both 40mm. My money was as good as spent.

Dallas and Austin have authorized dealers if you're looking in Texas.

Hard to go wrong with a Sinn. While I don't have one now the U1 is among my favorite dive watches but the U50 supplanted it when it came out with its more manageable 41mm size. Considering it is $2700 on bracelet I think it is a good deal as well as are all their watches. It would help if they had a real dealer network in the US.

I bought my Glashutte Original at Wempe NYC in 2002. Saw it, had never heard of them at the time, tried it on and bought it. I wanted a dress watch type of watch, wanted a moonphase and thought the dial looked more balanced than the Panodate Moonphase that was in the Senator collection at the time. I already had a JLC at the time, so I wanted something different, unusual.

I’ve tried one at Wempe in NYC.

Twice I owned a 656 in the early 2000's when the US dealer was a watchbuys.com, or you got it through a private sale on timezone.com. Traded the first one as part of a deal for something I don't remember, and the second one in a deal for an IWC Mark XV that is long gone.

Did you not like the IWC? I’m still eyeballing a Mark XVIII le petit prince, I haven’t had the chance to see one in person.

I love my 856. No worries about robbery. Because only other watch nerds know what the hell it is. I’ve had it 8 years? 2 people have stopped me.

All watch dealers pick it up when I try one of theirs on. “What’s this? Oh yeah…”

The deBoulle on Preston is a nice spot to watch shop and they have Glashutte.

The German Explorer at much nicer price.

The only Sinn I have now is the most un-Sinn watch in their catalog, a 6100 Regulateur with a "Sinn" ETA 6497 so it wears like a dinner plate being all dial.

Stolen images because I am too lazy to take a picture since I have never taken one of it.

Useless trivia: Antoine de Saint-Exupery's book Le Petit Prince is second only to the Bible in the number of languages it has been translated into.

Had no idea on that, but by the time we left Lyon,FR this summer, my family was sick of hearing about the man whom the Airport there is named for - Antoine de Saint-Exupery and especially the connection to the folks in Schaffhausen.

A totally boring fact to most in this thread, but since I've been jonesing for a good watch thread, I'll share this. I was a huge IWC devotee in the second phase of my watch addiction. I'm down to one right now (ref 3251 Pilot UTC Time Zone Corrector), but at one time I owned in addition to that piece the aforementioned Mark XV, a 3706 Spitfire fleigerchronograph, Portugieser 371604 and Portugieser 57001 7 day power reserve in RG. Some beautiful pieces, but all but the Fleiger UTC and the Fleiger Mark XV just wear very big, didn't get much wrist time and were shown the door as I've rolled back around to where my current affinities lie, which is where it all started with that little coronet.

But, the blue on the Petit Prince editions is superb.

That was a nice IWC collection I have two 5001 7 days. But the cream is a limited edition from the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival with IMO a gorgeous colorway. Limited to 100

I couldn't get the grey sunray dial to show well without setting up the light box...

In 2016 they made 50 annual calendars in the same colorway and I am casually looking for one of these and will sell the 2013 and my black dial 5001 to fund it.

Great colors - did not know that colorway existed. Mine was rose gold with white dial and rose gold hands and markers. The date window on the 5001's is one of the best executed there is, if you ask me. Had that watch been 40 mm instead of 42, I would probably still have it. A friend had the white dial w/ blue panda subs and blue hands. Great looking watch just big.
