Better yet, get back to me when you're carrying a pager and in the hospital nights, holidays and weekends.

Never carried a pager but I worked nights for 16 years and likely have worked way more nights, weekends, and holidays than you have.

Besides....you wanna make the big doctor bucks...you usually are required to be on call. You knew that going into the game.

I work the day before my 24 hr call. Work a 24 hr call and then sometimes come back in that afternoon for a 16.

Just a lowly crna though. Who doesn’t act like carrying a pager is hard.

Any nurse who ever worked in a hospital, can tell a story about pulling a doctor's arse out of the fire. Hell, I could write a book!

Still wrong, lol. I have yet to meet a nursing unicorn who works more than an MD. Are leprechauns real too?

I don’t recall bashing any profession on here and if I did, it was probably in jest.

I didn’t start a thread demanding everyone respect my profession.

If anything, this thread proves nurses live in a bubble of inflated importance. A random state senator has set off the “entire” nursing community? That’s funny.

She insinuated that people who take care or rural access communities play cards all day.

And it comes into focus. Chip on your shoulder, NURSE anesthetist? You still couldn't make it into medical school, residency, or board certification. Better go call your anesthesiologist attending to bail you out of another fire.

Ah well, there's always Facebook kudos.

Ever hung out at a firehouse? Guess what firemen do most of the time! I dare a politician to denigrate that profession!

I have worked around 2,496 night shifts in my nursing career. Probably around 800 weekends and maybe around 75 or so major holidays and another 50 or so of the minor ones during my career.

Do they teach a special class to surgeons on how to be total dicks to nursing staff? Just curious, cause most surgeons (except for the normal, decent human ones) are total dicks to nurses.

The bill is about protecting nurses from being subjected to mandatory overtime and to ensure they get the breaks they are supposed to get in a shift(usually the standard 12 hour shift most hospitals go with now for nurses in patient care). Many hospitals find loopholes to these. They will mandate their nurses to work overtime when they are really short. Or you are so short staffed you never get to even take a 30 minute break in a 12 hour shift and the hospital doesn't do anything about it.

Are they still getting paid overtime and double time (where mandated)?

The only chip on shoulder I see is you bro.

I work independently in a rural hospital with no anesthesiologist. Probably make more money than you too.

I’m also board certified ya dumbass.

I didn’t try to get into medical school because my uncle was making 300k doing anesthesia as a crna and told me to be a crna. Could have if wanted too. I enjoy my life and don’t get in message boards and bitch about my job like you do.

You got me...that was hours..not shifts.

I corrected it.

I'm not perfect...and unlike that a-hole surgeon poster in here...I freely will admit when I'm wrong.
