She is a junkie. She was likely stealing a small amount of narcotics from the drug vial...injecting herself first right then and there...then diluting vial and giving the rest to the patient. She’s a junkie....like she has time to worry about switching out needles.
Looks like she's next in line to run San Francisco's health department.

Hopefully she won't be able to ever be near patients again.
Hate to break it to you but junkie nurses are so common that if they took their license they would be more understaffed than they already are. LSUNURSE didn't immediately jump to junkie from this story for no reason. Stealing meds is VERY common. She will do rehab, likely paid for by the hospital, and be back working in no time. With some oversight but definitely back working.
FWIW, I knew a Nurse Anesthetist that was shooting up IN THE OR during surgeries. They had a little curtained off area and she would just step back there and hit herself with some of the patients meds. Kicker was that the patient undergoing surgery was getting shorted pain meds. Pretty screwed up.

Yep
AZ has the CANDO program for nurses. I’ve known a handful of nurses that went through it to keep their license.
You have a lot of restrictions (no more working nights, no working ER or ICU, no access to narcotics and must have another nurse give your patients narcotics)....but.....if you jump through all the hoops you can keep your license. I know you have to pay out of your own pocket the drug screens. One of my friends had to pay for several drug screens a week while in the program(all random of course). They would call and tell her to get screened and she had to drop everything and do it within a certain timeframe or she was in violation of the program.
I think you have to be in the program for a couple of years iirc.
