Don't buy Fisher Paykel. My sister put all FP in her new house and had to replace it all within 2 years due to multiple failures.

Whirlpool Cabrio- I feel all of your pain. We went through washers and dryers every three years. 3 Girls and the Mrs. generate 3 loads of laundry a day. So far the Whirlpool has held up best.

Cabrio is a line, not a specific machine.

SG, FP has changed it's ways.
They fixed the issues.

Having said that, Maytag or Kenmore (sorta Maytag, sorta Whirlpool) is your best bet. If in the stixs Kenmore is good, but note, no one other than sears can service them in warranty.

Yes... like Toyota Camry. I gave both the brand and the line. Very helpful I thought.

My next washer, dryer, and fridge will be Meile...German engineering at its best. These appliances ooze quality craftsmanship. They are expensive, but built well.

Miele is pretty bad-arse. I'm going to certify on them next year. I didn't have time to study up. I like the way they are made. But as far as dependability, nothing touches speed queen.
I can grab a dozen techs and not one has worked on one newer than 15 years old

This is their 2015 model line, like I said earlier, it looks just like the late 90's Whirlpools.

If you have a family and can use the them, we have the whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer. I would do whatever I could to get out of a front loader. We had a nice whirlpool front loader before this and had several issues. The main things were the capacity was shite and the damn things don't use enough water to get really dirty clothes clean. We also had issues with the door leaking. Not ever going back to a front load again.

Yep, our issue was the rubber boot seal on the front of the drum. Failed once a year at over $200 a pop and that's if you did it yourself. It's a pain in the neck job but I was getting fast and good at it by year 4. It was enough to make me kick it to the curb. Went with a agitator free top loader and love it. Huge loads with no balancing issues. It doesn't do as good of a job with heavy soil so you have to be sure to spray n wash or do the longest cycle for dirty jeans.

Cut that shelf and get a top loader. As the washer repair guy said earlier, they are nothing but cash cows for the repair man. If you're not willing to do that, buy the cheapest one, that way you're not as pissed when you're swapping it out every 5-6 years.

That slab of granite wasn't cheap!

Going to do more research today. Really like the Speed Queen but wife says they are too expensive. I tried explaining that they cost more initially because they last a lot longer.

We spent $3000 on our Eletrolux washer and dryer. It's been 5 months since we bought the crap. The washer will not fill with water to complete a cycle (yes we checked the water line and drain hose).

The repairman told us the warrantee was void because it sat in storage of a month at the store before it was delivered. The washer and dryer has a two year warrantee.

By any chance, did you pay for it using a credit card? Companies such as Discover and AMEX offer extended warranties at no additional cost. May want to check that out.

Wow, top loader out of the question. You really need more open space at the top.

I used to like Maytag, but as others have said., front seals are an issue.

Napoleon would have the best reccomendation.

Agreed. In hindsight, when we redid our laundry room, should have thought about top loader. However, wife was adamant about having counter space, so we went in this direction.

Going to follow Napolean's advice. Looking at Whirlpool, Maytag, Miele and Speed Queen.

Bathtub and a clothesline. Less electricity and water used that way.
