i dont think anyone realizes just how connected Lance and RW were.

RW used to be a passionate cyclist..and to give that up out of anger/being lied to by someone who he thought was a great friend..remember this just happened last year...could have had something to do with ramping up the depression.

What kind of idiot would cut off something they enjoy because someone they knew who also enjoyed that activity turned out to be a fraud? Even if RW stopped cycling because of Armstrong, it's still 100% his fault.

the point is this was something that helped mitigate his depression..a normal person probably wouldn't cut something off but this clearly had a big impact on him.

who was it? i'm pretty familiar with all lance's ex-teammates but don't remember this story.

Did you watch the 30 for 30, "slaying the badger"? At the end Greg Lemond said that "Lance's mom called him and asked him how she could make her son less of an a-hole".

CNN on Robin William's cycling passion

quote:

The only thing that stuck closer to Lance Armstrong during his seven Tour de France victories than his yellow jerseys was Robin Williams. The late actor was a fixture in the crowds in France, popping up in the Champs-Élysées stages cheering on Armstrong.

Williams was a fierce defender of Armstrong during his battles against doping allegations. Armstrong admitted he doped, vacated his Tour de France titles and was given a lifetime ban.

Armstrong’s guilt proved especially difficult for Williams, who was an ardent supporter of the Livestrong Foundation which Armstrong founded.

“It wasn’t just Lance. [Most of the] team was doping,” Williams told Parade in September of 2013. “I haven’t seen him since one of the last Livestrong benefits, I think just before the Oprah interview. It was literally like a wake for someone who was still alive, this overall feeling that the dream was over.
