CSP & CPCU ( insurance) here..

My friends who have went independent consultants usually struggle because they skimp on professional liability / errors & omissions insurance ..a claim happens and they get drug into the suit.

You would have to treat it like a real business with a CPA & attorney and insurance agent.

The business is tough and I'm involved with the ASSP as a national volunteer and see the ASSP President and past staff struggle to get substantial consulting work.

Almost all CSPs that try get tired of the hustle and just get a full time job @ 95k ( average salary for someone with minimal people skills ) and forget about running their own shop.
