SIAP
I found out about this Saturday and have been on it non-stop since. The Vieux Carre Commission has basically taken all of their files and historical documents and put them on-line for all to see.
It's unreal. Here's a sample:
The best thing to come out of New Orleans since the Charbroiled Oyster!

Big Daddy's and Takee Outee

Big Dadees was a cultural landmark and, at a minimum, the swinging legs should have been preserved. And I can’t believe no one has brought Takee Outee back.

Big Daddy’s should be a historical landmark. The first strip club I’ve ever been in when I was 14 or so.

Big Daddy’s
Address
522 Bourbon St
Significance Rating
Blue, of major architectural/historical significance
Building Type
American Townhouse
Current Style
Renaissance Revival / Neo-Renaissance
quote:
The "Rouzan House", a fine granite front, 3-story townhouse, attached service wing detailing includes a pilastered entrance, pedimented window heads on the second floor front façade, wrought iron full length balcony on the second floor, basket balconies on the third floor, and a belvedere. James Gallier Sr. was possibly the architect of this Renaissance Revival (Romano-Tuscan mode) residence.
While it's not a national historical site, the VCC regards the building as historic and significant to local history, which is what really matters. I saw the feet in that one picture above

Hard to tell business names. It was the French Opera Hotel in 1939 though. WOW

New Orleans is trashy and disgusting. Esp the French Quarter.

If only America had more strip malls and fast food joints.
We can dream huh?

Thank you for the finding this and sharing the link.
Mr. Turf has now been visiting the building we owned and he was surprised at some of the photos from just before he bought it.
Now to check out other buildings that friends owned and worked on restoring.
(Worked on restoring being the operative phrase as no building there can ever be totally done without continued maintenance.)

Welcome!
same. Worked and lived in the quarter and restored some as well. Couple that I've included on here.
I loved going here as a kid. I can still hear the sounds and smells the stank
