A Delta Air Lines flight from Atlanta to Las Vegas was forced to divert to Memphis so a passenger who allegedly became disruptive could be removed by police.

Footage captured by a woman on board shows the man arguing with a father, who took exception when he began to swear in front of children.

With their four-hour flight interrupted, passengers cheered and whistled when Memphis Airport Police officers escorted the man off the Boeing 717-200 on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the FBI, which investigates incidents that happen on planes in the US, confirmed to Memphis TV station WREG that its agents attended the scene as well.

In a statement, a Delta spokesperson said: ‘Delta flight 1603 from Atlanta to Las Vegas diverted to Memphis as a precautionary measure due to a disruptive passenger.'
