I always find it odd when people praise Birmingham on here. It's a shithole with nice suburbs. It has worse demographics than Nola and almost none of the charm.

I didn't say BR was nicer than the Ham but it's not a great place by any means. My wife is from Birmingham.

I've been there 4-5 times per year for the past 15 years. I stand by my statement, it is a shithole with nice suburbs.

Yeah...Birmingham is just a spot on a map. The commerce takes place mostly south if Birmingham.

Birmingham was named a top 10 city to retire just last fall, but you're the expert I guess

Outside of Birmingham is mostly decent...except west and southwest towards Bessemer or Adamsville. But again, the city proper is a dump. Sure, they are trying to gentrify downtown and a few other areas but Nola is far better than Birmingham yet it gets shite on constantly on the OT.

So why isn't Baton Rouge on the list?

Baton Rouge/Nola vs Birmingham is a midget fight. Which one of us sucks less

Roping BR in with New Orleans?

But Birmingham doesnt even get to count the rest of its own metro area?

And yet you are roping in the suburbs like Mountain Brook or Vestavia with the city proper?

When did I do that?

Even if I had, they literally border Birmingham while Baton Rouge and New Orleans are over an hour away.

Birmingham isn’t bad. Just like any other city you have crime riddled areas. Birmingham is leaps beyond Baton Rouge though.

Bessemer isn’t horrible either. Old towns lose a lot but Bessemer is slowly turning back around. Most just look at headlines/demographics of places but places in between Bessemer (Brighton, midfield, Fairfield
, west end, Easley) have little to no commerce. Bessemer borders decent areas, Helena, Hoover, McCalla, Hueytown, Homewood.
