1st time she was recognized she gets 3min. 2nd time, it would be up to the board to set the amount of time at recognition.

She is going to win.

The officer made it way worse by taking her down and arresting. If he would just have kicked her out, this would not have been a big deal.

So you have ties to Fontana.

Was the raise based on the improved performance or was it to bring the SI closer in line with other SI's?

The SI thinks he deserved it based on improved performance. The Board (Fontana) gave it to him because they wanted to.

Never heard of Fontana before this and while I live in LA have no dealings within Vermillion parish. So you can scratch "good instincts" off of as a quality you believe you posses.

Scratch "ability to understand sarcasm" off of yours.

No. As I've already said, I never even heard of him before this and have nothing to do with Vermillion Parish.

Did things get out of control? Yes, of course. It never should have got to the point it did.

I just believe they were there to vote on whether or not the SI deserved to get a pay raise based on his job performance, and to a lesser extent on what his level of pay was compared to others in his position. And I'm not even saying that he did or didn't deserve a raise. I have no idea one way or the other.

Do teachers deserve a pay raise? Probably so, and once again I have no idea one way or the other if they do or not. I don't pay attention to it, but if they do that discussion would be for another day/meeting.

What I do know, is for right then and there; it didn't matter how anyone got on the board, what teachers did to improve scoring in the parish, what salary teachers make, or what equipment classrooms in that Parish need. They were there to vote on whether or not the SI deserved to get a pay raise based on his job performance.

Everything else, which includes most but perhaps not all of what Deisha said, DID NOT MATTER.

And btw, my sister is a teacher in LA.

I never made a comment on being able to understand or not understand sarcasm, but you however DID make a comment on why you thought I was here. And you know what? You were wrong!

Agree to disagree here. When the vote was long deadlocked before a board member died and the President appointed a member that would vote the way he wants him to, it does matter.

When the SI is getting a raise for performance and no one else is, when the district reportedly had a $3 million deficit last year, it definitely matters.

You can't just insulate that moment in time from everything else. It all plays a part in how it got to that point.

That may have been wrong, but still that would be a case for another day (I understand it would have needed to come up before), not up for debate at that meeting.

I agree any other position that deserves a raise should have its meeting as well, but not at that meeting.

So let's file your inability to convey sarcasm into your folder.

Ok, dumbfuk? See how that works both ways when you want to start name calling?

OK. Its clear that you have an agenda, and refuse to see the whole picture.

If everyone thought like you, government would be able to get away with anything. Somebody stands up to something that is corrupt, and you have an issue with it, because to you the only thing that should matter is a vote, and not the why or how they got to that point.

And if you believe it's ok to get go away from the topic at hand it's clear that you don't see how things can devolve, get convoluted such as this has, and may even prolong these meetings. I mean where would you draw the line?

You just don't get it, and you won't. You're trying to compartmentalize issues, and in any other case, maybe you could. But not in this one. They are all related.

This is not the first meeting that these issues have come to light. This has been a recurring problem with this Board.

I do get it, I do see how they are related (but not specific to the topic at hand), but as I asked of Hold That Tiger, when and where do you draw the line? Do you not see how convoluted things can get in other meetings everywhere if that is allowed? It will make problems that go way beyond even this.

Probably tons. Its also one that most wouldn't know about if it wasnt for the teacher. Its even known now, but not being brought to light like it should be in my opinion.

And if a lot of people think like GeauxLSUBengals, everyone should just shut up, get in line, and take it up the arse.

The most unfortunate part about all of this is that this Chick who got arrested for speaking out against the School Board had a very unique opportunity to address the real issues.

Instead, she and national media spotlight shined on women's rights and police brutality. She should be ashamed by the course she took. She could have hammered the real issues that she initially took a stand for. Instead, she went for the scripted lines that big networks handed her and the handouts that the lawyers are suggesting she take.

fricking unbelievable.

I live in LA and am a fan of the LSU Tigers. So I frequent this website and sometimes read the OT Lounge when I have free time and ran across this topic of which has generated interest worldwide. Why would that place me in VP?
