I work for a GM dealership, and a customer came in with a 2016 Silverado Crew Cab 5.3L cylinder 8 dead misfire knocking etc. after all diag and test end result is the vehicle needs a engine replacement.

Customer has Carshield/American Carshield extended warranty, well they sent a adjuster out (which is normal for any extended warranty for a engine rebuild or replace). Going through all the Data and having to run through all the test yet again (compression, cylinder leak down etc etc) proved that the engine needs to be replaced. The adjuster was extremely cool and me and him were just BSing as he was taking pics and videos of the test and different things on the truck.

Well after a little bit he started to tell me about the BS with this extended warranty company, and showed me the papers they sent him for inspection. Well he said you should really read that last paragraph. As I read it to summarize it says inspect all area’s of the vehicle including possible wreaks that could have caused mechanical issues. Also check all fluids even if the fluid is not related to the issue and or component. Have the tech go through every single thing even if it’s not related to the issue or component and record and take pictures. Try and find anything that would void the contract with customer so they will be fully responsible for all the repairs and diag and do not tell the technician or the company what you are trying to find or show them this paper work

I asked the guy after is that a lot of extended warranty’s and he said no it’s not. Yes some do make you check everything and fluids and components not related to the issue, but that’s mainly for if future issues occur, they can keep track to make sure the vehicle is being properly maintenance . He also said Carshield is the only company that he has dealt with that wants you to go through everything even a tear down for no other reason that to try and find a way or reason they can void the claim and contract to keep the money the customer has paid in

This company is a complete scam, avoid at all cost!

I wish we could line them all up, and shoot parts off of them until they assume room temperature.

You really want to shoot the computers that are calling you?

Use a bat on technological machinery, it’s much more dramatic and fulfilling.

They are slimy… I mean working for a GM dealership I’ve had to deal with them more times than I care to admit. I’ve had vehicles sitting waiting on approvals for over 3 months for all the sudden Carshield to come back and say some more bs and the claim things was neglect we are only covering 50% or just whatever

Never knew about the whole try and void policy thing, and I wouldn’t have 100% believed it if I hadn’t seen the papers myself. And the adjuster telling me only Carshield puts that crap in the paper work

or my absolute favorite one was a customer flipped his shite because the customer has rental on his Carshield policy which stated that the vehicle issue had to be verified by a inspector before rental is approved.. inspector came verified it went through the 1000 hoops well Carshield approved rental but nothing else.. after almost 2 months finally got a approval, 3-4 days to get the parts and repair the vehicle.. customer comes to pick up his vehicle, and is hit with like 1500.00 in rental fees apparently Carshield only paid for 3 days rental and that’s all they were going to pay

Just slimy

I approve getting a extended warranty as a mechanic and working for GM and only drive GM I still buy extended warranty BUT get a good company like LDS that don’t try to screw you over if you need to make a claim

Oh and another fyi about Carshield scams say you got a vehicle tapping/knocking really bad and the inspector comes and does his stuff and Carshield says we require a tear down of the camshaft. Say that job pays 30hrs, 15hrs will be needed to tear it down Carshield makes the customer approve it. Once it’s torn down if the engine just can’t be rebuilt (block damage, or whatever) and the engine has to be replaced if Carshield may do the engine replace, but the tear down they required the customer still has to pay

There 'ya go, lol. JK

We always try to sell either SecureNet or LDS, unless customer request GM Protection. We don't honor any others, but we do accept American Express...

But, Ice-T AND Ric Flair say it's on the level! I'm conflicted.
