I've got 3 pair of vans. One that I've had for 9 years. I wouldn't expect a Louisiana based message board to approve of either.

Been wearing Vans since the late 70s. I remember when we moved back to Arkansas from California and all the kids asked me why I was wearing my slippers to school.

I feel silly arguing about shoes so this will probably it for me but

That's what a lot of people think that are into clothes. That's why tons of people have been wearing them for so long.

Sure, they're simple but they have a classic look. You can rock them with jeans, chinos, and shorts. It's why people like Janowski's, killshots, or Stan Smith's (which I don't even really like but I see the appeal).

Shoes that have busy designs are more likely to look dated in a few years.

In SoCal where people wear more than cargo shorts, give me the Converse.

Wait are you saying cargo shorts are more prevalent in CA or LA?

because they are safe and neutral (see:boring) and its easy for a writer in GQ to say "wear this" without knowing anything else about the reader.

I mean at the end of the day its fine if you wear them but i hate when people talk like they are setting some type of trend by wearing some chucks. Ya some writer in the back of Maxim said they were in style with some plaid shorts and a V neck tshirt. I aint buying it
