Karate? I'm with you on VD being legit and Seagal a fraud but Lee was a kung fu master and discover Jeet Kune Do and was probably the most accomplished fighter to ever live second to his master IP man.

You need to learn what "discovered" means. JKD was founded by him, much like TKD was founded by general Choi. JKD is more of a school of thought than an actual style and is closely related to wing chun.

JKD is a combo (if I remember correctly) of about 25% wing chun, Chinese/American boxing and footwork that comes from fencing. Also high kicks were incorporated at one point.

theres a quote somewhere about what Lee said about it. Lee was a Wing Chun practitioner, so its natural that its what you can tell most about wing chun.
the most notable JKD guy is Insonanto, which is the only person that Lee gave permission to teach the system.
all the modern JKD I've seen is pretty much a mish mash of wing chun and Kali
