Great as always, DV.
What is the accessory strapped down, just forward and roughly parallel to the shovel? Looks like it has tennis balls on it?

You’re very welcome. And speaking of weathering, when I first opened the IL-2 Sturmovik today that I’m working on now, my initial plan was to give it heavy weathering. But I did some reading and it turns out the average IL-2 lived a short and brutal life. Despite its reputation for being tough and hard to shoot down (it was nicknamed the “flying tank” by the Soviets) they actually suffered appalling losses. In fact, despite the fact the Soviets built like 1,200 of them per month, they could barely keep up with losses. The average lifespan of an IL-2 was as between 10 to 20 missions before being shot down. Turns out the whole “flying tank” nickname was nothing more than pure Soviet propaganda.

That’s a folded up tripod for the .50 cal I believe.

Thanks. Glad you like it.
Also, I see I’m bothering at least one person.
Good.

I have a bone to pick with you. Lately, no doubt because I frequent these threads, I've been inundated with ads for Lego style tank and warplane models.

If he went to the Aggie Board the LEGO ads would look like this…

Before I saw this post, I was just thinking how odd it was that our exchange each had a single downvote, then I noticed them throughout the thread on extremely innocuous posts. People are fricking weird

Indeed. My model threads are highly popular with most, that’s why I post them. But there is a small handful of bitter haters who are really bothered by them. So they go through downvoting every post. They don’t dare actually post their objections, just leave a meaningless down vote and sulk away. Personally I like that bother them.

Not exactly. But it is an object Obama uses quite often.

I didn’t know we had these in Vietnam.
Yes, there was a battery (maybe two) of them attached to my mechanized infantry unit in Quang Tri province, operating out of FSB Charlie 2 near the DMZ and Laotian border. Great things to have around and they were very accurate , or at least the men operating them were. I did not know that they were still in service all these years later.
