I never knew the CIAs drug smuggling front in SE Asia had its roots in the AVG.

Surely you knew that Chennault was an LSU cadet, right? He was born in Texas, and raised in Waterproof, La.

Gen Chennault grew up in Gilbert, & Waterproof, Louisiana. Is a distant relative of mine. Has descendants still living in Concordia Parish.

It would be interesting to know if they swapped the British .303 caliber machine guns for the American .30 cal when they moved the shipment from the Brits to the AVG. I can almost imagine they would have had to have because of logistics issues although there were RAF units active in that theater.

That’s a great question. And to be honest, I don’t know the answer. I’d be interested to know.

One of my all time favorites, very nice work !. Have been a Warhawk fan since I was a kid. This one in the photos is a WW2 vet built in 1943 and flown by Canada with a confirmed Japanese fire balloon kill. Went to Colorado in the 50's flew cloud seeding missions, gear up landing, and sold. Chino got it flying in the 80's with numerous movie appearances .

Chinos P40N. My son quite a few years apart. We get to be around quite a few unique birds being locals at KCNO.
