Lots of people who got bachelors and masters just did it because that’s what you’re “supposed” to do. We tell people they have to get a degree and many of them are useless and people don’t go into the field they studied. We give out loans to anyone to get it done. People have been conditioned to believe it’s the best thing. The no college people are your most ignorant. They were the most hesitant at the start (many African American) yet it’s also the most manipulated group. They started as the most hesitant group from the start.
PHDs are typically more free thinkers. They’ve had to write thesis and do something that wasn’t necessarily required. Again, you are talking a small group. 10k out of 530k total.

The basis of her decision was certainly an appeal to authority. There is zero chance it was based on a gathering of information.
It's her line of thinking and decision making that is terrifying.
