Please direct me to where I admit that I was wrong. From the beginning I made a statement and asked you to point to where I was incorrect. I have maintained that stance the whole time.
The lyrics were to show you the obsession versus a mention.

quote:what do you want? Yes. The war hymn is obsessively about UT. But to even try and use that as a thing against A&M is completely and totally intellectually dishonest when Texas fight is entirely about A&M and to even try to portray it as a response to the war hymn, which wouldn't matter if it was true, is absolutely false
You still haven’t answered a question that has been asked.

Sow now you have admitted that A&M obsesses about Texas. That’s a good start. Admitting you have a problem is the first step.
As I mentioned, I’m just reading the Texas fight song how a casual observer sees it written. The one mention about A&M in it and no other mentions does not seem like the song is entirely about A&M. I did allude to the fact that it was written as a pseudo “reply” to A&M’s obsession, but don’t see the same obsessive nature about one school in the lyrics as witnessed in your War Hymn/Fight Song/Whatever.

I hate that I'm doing this but oh well. And no, farmers fight is not the war hymn
the literal UT website
the literal UT website
quote:
"Long before I entered The University of Texas in 1909 and until about the year 1928 the Aggies had one of the most effective and awe inspiring songs used by any student body anywhere any time. ‘Farmers Fight’ at that time was their sacred College song," Hunnicut wrote in a 1952 letter. "It occurred to me that an effective way to strike back at the Aggies was to write a ‘Texas Fight’ song in answer to their(s)."

What is Farmer’s Fight?
And their reply does not seem to be obsessive. Yes there is a mention of A&M, but the rest of the song seems to be about school spirit and beating other schools, not just mentioning one school that you’re obsessed with. Same stance as I’ve had the whole time.

I have no idea. If you can find the lyrics to the song, go ahead and post them cause I've never see them

Which song do you want me to post?
Posted on 5/2/20 at 1:34 am to TigerGrad2011
quote:LOL. Their entire fight song is a jealous response to an A&M song that has been defunct for almost 100 years for the single purpose of "strike back at the aggies" but you're right, that's not obsessive at all
And their reply does not seem to be obsessive

This is all I could find:
“ Farmers Fight
[Pass Back: Closed fists rotating around each other in alternating directions]
Farmers fight!
Farmers fight!
Fight! Fight!
Farmers, farmers fight!”
A&M Yells
Also, I’m still going to maintain that a reply song/chant/whatever in a rivalry with one mention of your rival is not obsessive.
I think we are making progress in our relationship. The funny thing is that I have a lot of friends and colleagues that are Aggies and really respect the university, the network, and how they take care of each other, but the Texas obsession thing has always struck me as odd. Don’t get me wrong, I know plenty of individuals that are Texas grads that have an obsessive hate of A&M, but it’s not nearly as great of a percentage or as deeply ingrained as the way the Aggies feel about UT.

If we are going back to this, you still have never answered a question and still haven’t pointed out where and why the “complete shite” is.
