Wait, so even if a deal is reached this week, the article says that it's going to take about two weeks before the union workers will be allowed back in?
Man, this union business is a risky business.

Twic cards need to be reactivated since they haven't been used in so long and various other administrative issues like that need to be worked out.

TWIC cards at Norco stay valid for 30 days, so we it shouldn't be 2 weeks there. For the other sites that have been out longer, maybe.

Looks like A LOT of workers have returned to work at Shell Norco.
The parking lots are nearly full

What's the Union contract look like over there? Is it one where the Union can fine you for crossing the line? I know that exists in some contracts.

TWIC card last a lot longer than 30 days guys..... Even if not used...
Posted on 3/12/15 at 11:01 am to FalseProphet
I'm jumping in the conversation way late but in Louisiana that fine crossing line bs doesn't apply. Unless a special agreement exists at the plant but that's basically a violation of La civil code.

It's till valid but the access control system likely has a default setting to removing the access permission if not used for 30 days.

Exactly.
The card itself is still valid (of course), but it's the access to the plant. Didn't realize I had to spell it out.

Anyone hear rumors of an end today? Agreement pending a vote.

Haven't heard anything.

I heard the opposite from someone inside of one of the plants that is on rolling 24s
Wouldnt hurt my feelings for this to end

The potential deal contains language addressing the union’s concern about worker fatigue and contractors performing routine maintenance at oil refineries, said the person, who asked not to be identified because the information isn’t public.
If this is true, frick Shell. They had the union over the barrel at least as to the latter concern.
Posted on 3/12/15 at 3:10 pm to FalseProphet
The old contract had "language" addressing those as well. Don't read too much into that.

Now what? Should we contact our managers or vice versa in your opinion?

You'll be contacted by HR or your manager once the local is finalized and everything is voted and official. Probably be back working mid to late next week. I think the local wants to try and get our lost vacation time back.
