You disagree with a fact?
How does pop culture work?

Are the only people affected those who actively seek out certain things?

Let's just say I hear more stuff that comes through Twitter than a lot of people and I'm not on Twitter.

I agree. Idk why the man in the office makes that big of a deal to them or that they think oh well show him and decline amd hurt his feelings. As a history nerd, the house is cool as shite and id be all over that invitation regardless of who the president is.

not wholly limited to Twitter or social media

people seek affirmation, which is why Twitter isn't controlling any narrative

Turn off the news and social media and go out in the world. People of all races generally get along and mind their own business. It's in people's natural behavior to get along. I'm not holding anyone or any group back and I dont know anyone that is.

Then why was #notmyariel trending the other day when literally nobody was upset about it aside from a few trolls. It wouldn't be to create the perception that there are massive amounts of racists out there violently opposed to a black woman playing a mermaid? It wouldn't be to perpetuate tension when there really isn't any? It isn't to prop up a straw man victim for us all to defend and worship?

Why? Because you wouldn't find any post of mine defending her so you'd rather just act like it exists?

unless Chicken is trying to force a narrative as well...?

Is it disrespecting the actual office that bothers you or are you bothered because you support who is currently in that office?

You can just say Houston, or just leave out the number like being in a giant city means anything

It's this one.

And when you bring up how they did the same to Obama, it gets shifted to "well the media and CNN" blah blah.

Holy shite, you're naive as hell

Facebook, twitter and a couple others are absolutely the way many people in this world get their news, and it's enough to make a huge difference

quote:

Shortly after news broke earlier this month of the agreement between the Israeli government and Facebook, Israeli Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked said Tel Aviv had submitted 158 requests to the social media giant over the previous four months asking it to remove content it deemed “incitement.” She said Facebook had granted 95 percent of the requests.

quote:

She’s right. The submission to Israeli dictates is hard to overstate: As the New York Times put it in December of last year, “Israeli security agencies monitor Facebook and send the company posts they consider incitement. Facebook has responded by removing most of them.”

What makes this censorship particularly consequential is that “96 percent of Palestinians said their primary use of Facebook was for following news.” That means that Israeli officials have virtually unfettered control over a key communications forum of Palestinians.

quote:

The Pew Research Center report found 68 percent said they used social networks for news, with 20 percent saying they got information "often" from those services including Facebook and Twitter.

quote:

An estimated 67 percent of Facebook's users get news there, as do 71 percent of Twitter users and 73 percent of Reddit users. But because Facebook's overall user base is much larger, far more Americans overall get news on Facebook than on other sites.

Twitter has 126 billion daily users, Facebook 1.2 billion

You don't think controlling news and speech makes a difference?

it means quite a bit statistically versus Podunk LA......theres a great big world out there that doesn't correlate with small town USA.

To be fair, the media does spin and inflate. Absolutely, but to trivialize reality because of some embellishment is equally wrong....if not worse.
