I was fishing in East Cameron Parish, launched out of Rockefeller and went down to a place called "The mud hole", passed some of Hilcorp's shallow marsh production platform.

The problem is most of those dredged canals happened in the 60s and 70s, no? Not sure which companies did them, but are they still around? Can anyone really be held accountable for what as a company they did in 60s/70s? Unless it was an Exxon or BP that still exists today

Who gave them permission for the dredging back in those days? Did they follow all state laws?

I get people are upset, but if they followed all the laws and regulations given to them back then, are they really liable for future damages?

It has to do with that to some degree, but the oil companies dredged numerous canals through the marsh for drilling knowing it would significantly increase erosion and they did not care.

And the state approved it.
