Fascinating story. Prinz Eugen accompanied the Bismarck on its breakout into the North Atlantic. Transferred to the US as a war prize, it was sunk in the atomic bomb tests. The hulk still contains fuel oil which is being removed to prevent a spill from the deteriorating wreckage. LINK

I’m amazed a hole hasn’t rusted through and it leaked already.

My Ford Focus with flomasters, cold air intake, and huge spoiler is going to love this.

You clearly have no idea how these Germans built their Navy vessels.
How about reading a book before spouting off in a thread like this?

I built a model like this in 1970 of it.
Scapa Flow is on my 2019 List for the 100th Anniversary.
Ain’t much left there, mostly due to the salvors.

It's no longer a radiation hazard. National Geographic did an article several years ago exploring the shipwrecks in the lagoon. USS Saratoga was one of them. She deserved a better fate than that.

Another international problem the US has to fix

The USS Arizona is leaking oil into Pearl Harbor to this very day.

Well we were kind of responsible for it.
