UPDATE: It was a bullet hole.

I came home to find two holes dug in the walls of my apartment. It appears they have been dug from inside the dry wall, as if an animal was stuck inside and was trying to get out.
I'm having the apartment maintenance come look at it tomorrow but does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
The holes are a little larger than quarter size. Whatever it was used enough force to splatter remnants of the dry wall across the room onto the tv.
Thanks OT! Appreciate the insight, y'all were right. It is a bullet hole.

the creepy part is just not knowing what caused this
or if what caused it is in my apartment.

What is on the other side of that drywall? Is it an exterior wall?

Have you pissed off the neighbors recently? That's a bullet hole.

I don't even know my neighbors but no bullets located anywhere and the second hole is in my closet, an interior room.

Are both holes on the same wall? Is there a new neighbor on the other side of those walls? Why is there tape over the hole? Is there a nail or screw head inside that hole?

Forgot to mention, the location of the hole is about 6 feet up the wall.
Not sure if that changes anything.
I'm leaning rat or squirrel.

Not in the same wall, not in the same room. No new neighbors to my knowledge, or I at least haven't seen anyone. The tape is there because if something comes back through I would like to know it did.
One is in my roommates bedroom right above his bed about 5 feet up.
The other is in my closet, interior room about 2 feet below the ceiling.

How would they scatter drywall bit across the room onto the tv? That's a bulllet hole. Rats don't need to dig out of a wall. They'll just travel up to the attic or space between floors and exit the way they entered.

No. Nothing hung from the walls in these locations.
